Tech Trends, Portfolio Upgrades & Client Portal Preview
May 1, 2010
Dear Friends and Family,
We thought it would be of interest, given our AT&T and Verizon recommendations, to take a look at some of tomorrow’s cell phone technology. Your cell phone device is evolving into the “Swiss Army Knife” of consumer electronics. For instance:
- No wallet? No problem. A new technology standard called “near-field communications” will turn cell phones into credit or debit cards. A chip is embedded in a phone that allows you to make a payment by using a touch-sensitive interface or by bringing the phone within a few centimeters of an NFC reader.
- The world wide web in your pocket: Today many smartphones already provide full HTML browsers. In the future, these mobile HTML browsers will make their way onto even the most basic phones.
- Location, location, location: Because the FCC mandates operators to locate people when they dial 911 in an emergency, a large number of mobile phones already have integrated GPS chips. These chips can also be used to support a variety of location-related services. The most obvious is turn-by-turn navigation, but soon, GPS technology will also be used to enhance local search engines.
We have recently switched to a new portfolio management program. This software contains enhanced capabilities that will provide you with more detailed information about your accounts. We expect this to be a continuous work in progress and welcome any and all feedback.
In the coming months, we will begin hosting all of our clients’ statements on a web portal. You will be given a username and password in order to view your monthly portfolios along with additional performance reports, research reports, and current news on the investments in your accounts. We are very excited to be able to offer this to our clients and think it will be a safer and greener way to receive these documents. If electronic delivery isn’t something that interests you, please let us know and we can continue to send your statements to you. Our new system is very flexible, so if you would rather receive only consolidated copies or your statements without supporting pages, this can also be arranged.
We are not only continuously improving our research model but also the way we do business and provide service to our clients. Your suggestions are always welcomed and strongly encouraged. We look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Katz Family Financial
