Dear Friends and Family,

Let us be the first to wish you a Happy New Year!

“Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.”

Fiscal Cliff … Of ’32: Eighty years ago, a fiscal crisis dominated the nation’s capital. Then, as now, conservatives demanded immediate budget correction. Similar debates about taxation and investment took place. FDR responded with the New Deal. We believe today’s ‘cliff’ is more of a bump. The markets seem to agree.

Home Prices & the Economy: Single-family home prices rose in October for the ninth straight month, indicating an improving real estate market. Housing contributed 10% to Q3 economic growth, and GDP rose at a 3.1% annualized pace.
