Expanding Options and Protecting Your Future

May 1, 2008

Dear Friends and Family

We mentioned last month our mutual fund options continue to expand, in areas of the market we may not have previously covered. One very interesting option we have available is a GNMA fund. This fund invests in federally guaranteed mortgage backed securities. Because all of its holdings are fully insured by the U.S. government, the fund has a high degree of safety. It is currently yielding about 5% and has some interesting upside potential given the disruptions in the mortgage backed securities market. The fund is a good alternative to CDs and other money market type instruments that have continued to decline in yield.

Saving for college is becoming even more important as college costs continue to rise and the availability of student loans continues to fall. With this is mind we will be offering our College Planning seminar throughout May and June on the both the east and west coasts. We will discuss the options for financing a college education and maintaining financial health. This will include financial aid and savings solutions. If you are interested in attending or know someone who might benefit, please call us to hold a spot.

  • Issaquah, Washington  — May 13th and 15th at both noon and 6:00pm
  • Alexandria, Virginia  — June 12th at 6:30 pm
(lunch and snacks will be provided)

At Katz Family Financial, we take the safety and security of your investments very seriously. Fidelity has a series of safeguards in place to protect client assets that are custodied with us 100%. The first step is SIPC, which insures accounts up to $500,000 (including cash claims to $100,000). In addition, NFS provides Supplemental Insurance Coverage for its clients. If you would like additional information on this, please call Vicki at 425-657-2208.
