Larry Katz founded Katz Family Financial alongside his son, Mark Katz, and has been a guiding force behind the firm’s philosophy, values, and long-term investment approach. With over 60 years of investing experience, he remains deeply involved in the firm’s research and security selection.

Katz Family Financial was officially established in 2003, but its history dates back decades earlier. Larry spent more than 55 years advising clients — both through roles at other firms, most recently PaineWebber (now UBS), and as an independent advisor — and has built lasting relationships that have carried through every stage of his career. Many of his original clients, and now their children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, continue with the firm today. It’s a testament to the trust, continuity, and care that have defined his approach from the beginning.

Larry is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic (now NYU School of Engineering) and a Master’s in Business and Finance from Southern Illinois University. He is also a graduate of the New York Institute of Finance.
